Pasaia Bitartean
Pasaia is the bay where the main commercial port of Gipuzkoa is placed. The urban and industrial fabric grew and was structured around the productive activity of that harbor, which, ever since the industrial crisis keeps declining. Pasaia Bitartean has its starting point in the architectural project with the same name that Jonander Agirre Mikelez made during the year 2013. The idea of articulating this project as a film came up as a consequence of the search of other methodologies to think the city and its common spaces.

This is a film about empty spaces. On the one hand, the disappearance of Our Lady of Zikuñaga, a 13th century sculpture, serves to reflect on the importance that we give to images and on how we build these images in the collective memory. On the other hand, the death of the filmmaker's father, Juanmi Gutiérrez, a film and documentary-maker who left us all of his images when he died.

Agus must fight the circumstances to try and protect his roots, because in the Basque culture "etxea" means much more than four walls. Basque Selfie is a sad but edifying story articulated around tradition, the tradition of keeping the signs of one’s own identity alive.
