Zoroaster, in this case, has nothing to do with the religion that spread to Asia five centuries before Christ. Instead, it has to do with a character who is still little known, but of great interest: Zoroaster of Peretola. This was the "art" name that Tommaso Masini, born in 1462, had chosen for himself, a disturbing, scruffy, eccentric character, passionate about magic and occultism, but also an expert in painting and mechanics: so much so that he became an inseparable friend and accomplice of Leonardo da Vinci. For him, Zoroaster experimented - risking his life - with the flight machine that Leonardo had conceived, launching himself from the rock face of Mount Céceri, near Fiesole. It glided for at least a thousand meters before crashing.

Anti-globalization activists clashed with the police, with 23-year-old protester Carlo Giuliani shot dead after confronting a police vehicle. In the aftermath, the police organized a night raid on the Diaz high school, where around a hundred people between unarmed protesters—mostly students—and independent reporters who documented the police brutality during the protests had took shelter. "Under Ten Flags" is a WWII movie loosely based on the true story of the German navy commerce raider Atlantis, a converted Auxilliary Cruiser, and her Captain Bernhard Rogge. Atlantis, camouflaged as a merchant ship, cruised the South Seas ( Atlantic, Indian & Pacific) and sank or captured 22 merchant ships from May 1940 through November 22, 1941 when she was sunk by the British Cruiser HMS Devonshire. Rogge was one of the few German officers of flag rank who were not arrested by the Allies after the war ended. This was due to the very proper and ethical way he exercised his command of Atlantis. After the war he advanced to Rear Admiral in the West German Navy and became a high-ranking NATO commander.
