Turkish arabesque, with its bitter, fatalistic, and reproachful lyrics, first emerged as the rebellion music of the slums during the industrialisation era following the establishment of the republic. With the cultural destruction of the 1980 coup, it became a music genre for the masses. The film features pioneers of the genre, such as Orhan Gencebay, Ali Tekinture, Muhtesem Candan, and Burhan Bayar, who explain the birth of this cultural-musical phenomenon, while its evolution is interpreted by Ezel Akay, Kadir Copdemir, Haluk Cobanoglu, and Serhat Koksal. The soundtrack was selected from a wide range of venues, from beer houses to high-end restaurants, from amateurs to well-known producers.

The Hatay Academy Symphony Orchestra has set out for this. One rail of this ’high-speed train’, which is heading towards disaster faster and faster, is the ’state of emergency’ and the other rail is ’debris’. To change today, we all need to pull the emergency brake, we need to stop this train. Artists from Hatay are in solidarity for this journey. A year has passed and they have turned our pain into something bearable. Without them, this pain would be insupportable.

As a result of the global measures taken against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Olympic Games, which was to be held in Tokyo, was delayed for the first time in its history. In one hundred years, only three gymnasts had been able to represent Turkey in gymnastics, however, this is about to change; İbrahim, Ahmet, Ferhat and Nazlı qualify for Tokyo Olympics but find themselves in a challenging uncertainty. They are stuck at home for 3 months and Ahmet feels devastated, Ferhat is more concentrated on his goal, İbrahim tries to find the power to fight his injury, Nazlı is out of shape and Adem is ambitious to get qualified. They find motivation once again and go through the leap year with victories, losses, injuries, natural disasters and quarantine to get one step closer to the highest success attainable by an athlete.

In this monopolized environment, there seems to be no country for independent production. With the guidance of producers, distributors, and economists, the film traces the distortion created by the bad economy that has become an obstacle for freedom of choice.
