In addition to establishing an omnipresent theme in Hong Kong cinema – the plight of the urban poor – the film is also a prime example of the popular melodramas of the time, which featured displaced Mainland film stars.

Things complicate and Keith becomes jealous of David whom he suspects of playing around with both Wai and Nancy. Inevitably their relationships with women suffer and they get their just dessert.

Phillips, however, doesn't take rejection lightly and schemes to break up Ellen and Galloway using his unwitting partner. This film is lost.
