This was a made-for-TV special created by the same team as "Saturday Night Live." Bob & Ray (noted radio and television personalities from the 40's to the 80's) performed many of their sketches, previously heard only on the radio, interspersed with new material. Sketches include the Bob & Ray Lucky Phone Call, an interview with the 11 Inch Tall Gentleman, and the Bob & Ray Grand National Spelling Bee. Bob and Ray were getting to be fairly old at this point, and you can see a bit of a gap between their performances and the more polished work of Jane Curtain, Laraine Newman and Gilda Radner. Additionally, their extremely dry humor probably works better on the radio, but its nice to see them performing some of their characters such as Wally Ballou and the McBeeBee Twins. Also, it is nice to see how much Curtain, Newman and Radner seem to enjoy getting the chance to perform with Bob & Ray. In short, probably not the best showcase of their work, but nonetheless a rare and enjoyable chance to get to see the two men perform live.
